The agency served for six years as public relations counsel to this university-based teaching hospital's Department of Radiation Oncology in New York City, reporting directly to the department chair.  Tasked in part with helping the department build awareness levels and strengthen its reputation among the large referring population of doctors outside of the medical center, the agency publicized numerous developments for the institution, including the acquisition of state-of-the art medical equipment (e.g., a 20-ton gamma knife for use in brain surgery) and the results of significant research studies (e.g., radiation's use in preventing stenosis for kidney patients and as a potential treatment for reducing re-clogging of heart vessels after angioplasty).  Winuk Communications also helped design, draft and develop collateral materials for promoting the department and co-managed publicity for Columbia's partnership with New Milford Hospital in CT for the opening of that hospital's new Regional Cancer Center.  Agency president Jay Winuk was also selected to serve as interim director of public relations for Columbia University's College of Physicians & Surgeons while the institution searched for a replacement for its outgoing director.
